2008 Latex
Paint Recycling & Brush Drop Off
McHenry Township Road District
personnel will be on hand to receive your latex paint and brush
in the township employee parking lot at 3703 N. Richmond Road on
the following Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon:

Paint and brush will not be accepted at any other time.

You will be asked to show a photo ID
with your address at the recycling site. The recycling program is for McHenry Township
residential homeowners only, no out of state
residents, residents of other townships, or commercial
enterprises. If the staff on duty, for whatever reason,
feels the person requesting recycling is a contractor or lives
out of the area, that person will be turned away. This program
is funded by our residents and is for our residents.
Only
Latex Paint is accepted for recycling. We cannot accept
oil based, lacquer, alcohol, or any solvent-based paint, stain
or varnish. No aerosols, thinners, paint removers or any other
household waste product will be accepted.
All useable paint will be stored by color and type, then
mixed, strained, and combined in five-gallon containers.
Recycled paint will be available at no cost to McHenry Township
residents and non-profit organization.
Brush,
branches and twigs must be no longer than 8 inches in diameter
and 10 feet maximum length. Grass clippings, leaves and rubbish
will not be accepted. Road District personnel will chip all
branches into usable mulch, which will be available to
participants at no charge.
Wood chips are available at no cost to Township residents and
can be picked up any time the park gates are open. The chip pile
is located in the southeast corner of the McHenry Township
Recreation Center’s parking lot, 3519 N. Richmond Road, behind
the Moose Lodge. Please help yourself.

In Addition to McHenry Township Recycling
Programs:
The McHenry County Defenders will conduct collection drives in McHenry
on the second
Saturday of each odd-numbered
month. The recycling drive will be conducted from 9
am to 1 pm. in the parking lot of the Metra train
station on Main Street.
The Defender's Drive will include a buy-back program for
aluminum cans, brass and copper. Also accepted at this drive
are fluorescent bulbs, household batteries, packing peanuts
and bubble wrap. There is a charge to accept bulbs and
batteries.
