2008 Latex Paint Recycling & Brush Drop Off

McHenry Township Road District personnel will be on hand to receive your latex paint and brush in the township employee parking lot at 3703 N. Richmond Road on the following Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon:

April 19th,  May 17th,  June 21st,  July 19th, August 16th, October 18th,  November 15th  (September 20th, recycling will be closed for our Touch-A-Truck special event)

Paint and brush will not be accepted at any other time.

You will be asked to show a photo ID with your address at the recycling site. The recycling program is for McHenry Township residential homeowners only, no out of state residents, residents of other townships, or commercial enterprises. If the staff on duty, for whatever reason, feels the person requesting recycling is a contractor or lives out of the area, that person will be turned away. This program is funded by our residents and is for our residents.

Only Latex Paint is accepted for recycling. We cannot accept oil based, lacquer, alcohol, or any solvent-based paint, stain or varnish. No aerosols, thinners, paint removers or any other household waste product will be accepted.

All useable paint will be stored by color and type, then mixed, strained, and combined in five-gallon containers. Recycled paint will be available at no cost to McHenry Township residents and non-profit organization.

Brush, branches and twigs must be no longer than 8 inches in diameter and 10 feet maximum length. Grass clippings, leaves and rubbish will not be accepted. Road District personnel will chip all branches into usable mulch, which will be available to participants at no charge.

Wood chips are available at no cost to Township residents and can be picked up any time the park gates are open. The chip pile is located in the southeast corner of the McHenry Township Recreation Center’s parking lot, 3519 N. Richmond Road, behind the Moose Lodge. Please help yourself.
