McHenry Township offers low-cost computer training for area
seniors. It is important that students have access to a
computer to practice skills they learn in class.
No phone registration. Registration is at the McHenry Township
Senior Center and tuition is due at the time of registration.
Each class consists of either three 2-hour or two 3-hour
sessions.
Basic Computer: covers basic computer function for
someone with little or no knowledge of a computer.
Basic Windows: is an intermediate course that
teaches fundamental technology necessary to operate your computer.
Note: Students must take Basic Computer and Basic Windows
classes (or have equivalent computer experience) to take the
courses listed below.
Introduction to Word Processing: learn to create, edit,
format, save, and print documents; basic formatting skills.
Word : teaches concepts and skills in formatting,
graphics in documents, styles and page settings.
Excel: teaches the fundamentals of spreadsheeting.
Excel Formulas Workshop: a 3-hour
workshop to review Excel.
Internet: how to use the Internet: surf the internet,
e-mail and use instant messaging.
Calendars & Greeting Cards: Produce a calendar
using your photos and your family’s special dates. Bring photos.
Create your own greeting cards with text and images.
Poster/Flyer Design: Design posters or flyers for your
club, organization or family reunion.
On-line Genealogy: How to search for ancestral records
and work with a pedigree chart.
Digital Camera: Learn to transfer and print
photos from your digital camera. Must have digital camera.
