Open Burning of Landscape Waste
effective as of April 1, 2008

The McHenry County Board approved a revised Ordinance regulating the Open Burning of Landscape Waste in McHenry County, which became effective April 1, 2008. The Ordinance outlines the minimum standards for burning of onsite generated landscape waste in any unincorporated area of the county.

Municipalities may have an Open Burning Ordinance which exceeds the County’s Open Burning requirements, and would apply to all residents of the municipality.

Copies of the County’s Ordinance are available on our website or on the Health Department’s webpage: www.mcdh.info To obtain a copy or if you have any questions call McHenry County Health Department at 815-334-4585.
