General Assistance

General Assistance is on-going monthly grant re-determined every 30 days, for residents with very low or no income. 

McHenry Township also offers emergency assistance to their residents. This is available once every twelve months.

McHenry Township is also a satellite for Salvation Army assistance which is given on an as-needed basis.

You can apply for assistance at McHenry Township Main Office, 3703 N. Richmond Rd, Johnsburg, IL 60051

In addition to general assistance, emergency and Salvation Army assistance, the staff of the Supervisor’s office will work with residents to connect them to employment and other sources of assistance.

Please note the following:

  1. An appointment must be scheduled by calling 815-200-1237.
  2. All documents must be completed and returned to the case worker at the time of the scheduled interview.
